Criteria
To qualify for membership in SIM International, you must fall into one of the following leadership categories:
- Senior information management practitioner or officer: An IT professional in either a public or private sector organization who is a:
- Corporate/divisional head of a corporate or divisional IS organization, or
- Member of an IS management staff supporting corporate/divisional IS heads with key management roles, as certified by the head of the organization.
- Academic: A full-time university or college faculty member making a significant contribution to the IS field.
- Consultant: An individual or expert from a consulting firm or other service/vendor organization who serves information managers, and directly contributes to the IS profession.
- Non-IS senior executive: A senior business executive from a public or private organization whose primary responsibility is not information management, but plays a key role in the use of information technology in their own organization (i.e., CEO, CFO).
- Other leader: A leader in shaping and influencing law and government policy in areas of concern to information managers.
Note: SIM Chicago has a limited number of openings for membership opportunities available to representatives of IT equipment and service providers. There is currently a waiting list in this category. SIM adheres to a strict policy against any marketing or commercial activities and, therefore, does not accept sales, marketing, or business development representatives to its membership.
