Presidential Update 2011

June 1, 2011

The SIM Chicago Board is pleased to present its scheduled calendar of events for 2011 - 2012. As part of our Board’s annual planning meeting, the following structure of events continues to be implemented. These events are planned based on membership feedback, and in accordance with our chapter’s goals and vision.

To quickly summarize:

  1. SIM member meetings will now be available in three different locations (downtown, north/northwest suburbs, west/south suburbs) and will also be available in three different formats (breakfast meeting, lunch meeting, dinner meeting).
  2. The downtown meetings will be held in the Metropolitan Club in the Willis Tower. This venue is closer to the train stations and public transportation as requested in our latest member survey.
  3. There will be two invitation-only CIO breakfasts in November and March.
  4. There will be two open-invitation evening gala events in March and September. The purpose of these two events is to extend the outreach of SIM to the entire Chicago technology community. Open-invitation means exactly that: The event is open to both SIM and non-SIM members alike.
  5. SIM Chicago has officially partnered with several organizations to bring value-added technology events and conferences to Chicago. These events will take place in May, October, and December.
  6. To highlight the value of membership in SIM Chicago, there will be member-only meetings (plus member-invited guests) in February, April, May, and November.

As President of SIM Chicago, I am excited to bring you the quality events that make SIM the premier IT Leadership networking organization. In the coming weeks, members can expect to receive more communication from me and from the Board on a variety of topics. I look forward to seeing you at the many upcoming SIM events.
