Panelists include: Sheleen Quish, in transition from CIO and VP at US Can Corporation; Gail Holmberg, CIO of Bally Total Fitness; Ellen Barry, CIO of the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority; Tamara Goetzke, VP of Information Technology of New York Times Regional Newspapers, and Sue Leboza, Group Vice President for IT, Pharmaceutical Products Group at Abbott Laboratories.
The program will be moderated by Gerry Hoffman, past president of SIM International and a long-time member of our chapter. He currently is the President of The Gerald Hoffman Company and is a consultant, an educator, and an author. His most recent industrial job was as Executive Vice President and General Manager of Amoco Computer Services Company. His field of expertise is the management of information technology. He has done pioneering work in helping organizations get value from their information technology investments, in identifying and mapping technology trends and their effects on organizations, and in developing business strategies to exploit these trends. Most recently, he has investigated the causes of IT project failures and developed a methodology called Meta Planning to help insure IT project success. Finally, he is an Adjunct Professor of Health Management at Illinois Institute of Technology, and has lectured in executive education programs in both corporate and academic settings.
The format of the panel will consist of individual statements by each of the panelists about the issues she finds most important, followed by an extended question and discussion period. The panel will address a wide range of topics including how being a woman has affected their careers, how it affects daily activities on the job and work/life issues. At the end, we will ask each of the panelists whether, on balance, being a woman has helped or hurt her career.
