SIM Event No-Solicitation Policy

The Chicago SIM Chapter recognizes that the vendor community is an integral and necessary component of the comprehensive I.T. profession. The Chapter also firmly believes that business between its members and the vendor community should be based on a foundation of strong relationships, not on a platform of aggressive solicitation practices.

Chicago SIM events are considered a “safe zone” for all participants who attend so that they may have the opportunity to strengthen their own professional development and enrich their personal and professional network. In order to maintain an engaged and sustainable membership, the Chicago SIM Chapter strictly enforces its no solicitation policy.

The bylaws of the Chicago SIM Chapter state that “vendors must not engage in marketing at meetings.”We ask that all vendor members or vendor guests at SIM events refrain from solicitation of other attendees. Should anyone attending a SIM event become the target of unwanted solicitation, please remind the vendor of the stated bylaw provision or contact a SIM Board member with specific details.

To ensure the event is enjoyed by all attendees, the following reminder is sent to all registrants prior to every SIM event regardless of position or company:

We are looking forward to seeing you at the upcoming SIM event for which you have registered. SIM events are intended to provide an atmosphere conducive to social networking, knowledge sharing, camaraderie, and thought leadership. SIM maintains a policy that prohibits active or passive solicitation of its attendees before, during, or after an event. We kindly ask that you respect our policy, our members, and our guests so this event and future events will be enjoyed by all.
