i.c.stars | *

i.c.stars provides opportunities for inner-city young adults to harness the strength of technology for social and economic leadership. By integrating technology training and leadership development, i.c.stars is shaping the next generation of technology leaders.

We provide sponsorship, volunteers, and employment opportunities for graduates of the i.c.stars program. SIM Chicago encourages our members to attend the i.c. stars ‘High Tea’, sharing their life stories and paths to success with the i.c.stars interns. SIM Chicago hosts an annual summer golf outing with proceeds benefiting i.c.stars.

CHicago innovation awards

The  Chicago Innovation Awards focus attention on the most significant new products and services introduced in the region. The ten winners each year are innovations that uniquely fill unmet needs, spark a competitive response in the marketplace, exceed market expectations, achieve financial success, and improve people’s lives. They emerge from the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. Most importantly, the Chicago Innovation Awards remind us that innovation is thriving in America’s heartland.

SIM partners with The Chicago Innovation Awards on many events over the course of the year, providing valuable connections through business networking and development opportunities.

Arts & business council of chicago

The Arts & Business Council of Chicago (A&BC) links the strengths of the cultural and business sectors to promote community growth and vitality through the arts. By enlisting business volunteers to provide essential assessment, training, consulting and board service, A&BC enhances management capacity of arts organizations while promoting a highly engaged form of business participation in the arts.

SIM helps promote the A&BC by holding our Winter Social event at one of the A&BC member organization sites and providing a monetary donation towards their operation.

Feed My Starving Children

Feed My Starving Children is a nonprofit organization that provides nutritionally complete meals formulated specifically for malnourished children.  Donations to FMSC help purchase the meal ingredients and volunteers hand-pack the meals.  Meals are donated to FMSC partners around the world where kids are fed and lives saved.

Last year, we met at the FMSC office in Schaumburg and spent 90 minutes packing meals destined for children in Cuba.  SIM members and their guests are welcome, including children.
