Cloud & Cancer – A Tale of Two Transformations

In 2012, Briggs Healthcare was experiencing the pain of an aging IT infrastructure. Its total cost of IT was way outside the industry benchmarks for its business category and the rigidity of the environment was preventing the business from creating any sort of a competitive advantage in an industry that requires speed to market and the ability to pivot on a dime. John envisioned, researched, defined, and championed a radical change to Briggs’ technology platforms with one outcome in mind: - MOVE EVERYTHING TO THE CLOUD. Hence a new, professional journey of transformation began.

Five years later and near the end of the cloud project, John was diagnosed with HPV+ throat cancer after a small, painless lump appeared on his neck. As he had done before with Briggs, John envisioned, researched, defined and championed his own treatment path with one outcome in mind – TOTAL CURE. Hence, a new, personal journey of transformation began.

This is a tale of two transformations and John will outline, in great detail how his approach to these professional and personal transformations were remarkably similar in nature with each requiring persistence, perseverance, and never losing sight of the end goal even when the journey throws unexpected and never-ending twists and turns.
