This event is sponsored by Burwood Group. SIM-Chicago invites you to a fun morning volunteerism event: Litter Cleanup and Coastal Habitat Restoration. You will directly impact our Chicagoland beaches by cleaning up our shores with old friends and making new ones for the year! We look forward to seeing you on August 24th Saturday morning 10AM at the 63rd St Beach (Metered Street Parking available). What to Expect: Great socializing and networking opportunities at our Chicago 63rd Ave Beach while making a positive impact to our aquatic species, environment and beach! Parking: There is metered street parking available outside 63rd St Beach at 6300 S Lake Shore Dr, Chicago IL
Food will be provided near Reggie’s on the Beach House right at the Beach afterwards.
Upon Arriving: When you arrive, a SIM Chicago member/representative will sign you in and give a short overview of the event. Then you will receive bags, gloves, and a litter monitoring form for the cleanup. When: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, August 24th Where: 63rd Street Beach is located at 6300 S. Lake Shore Drive. Look for the SIM Chicago table near the beach side of the fieldhouse when you arrive. How to Prepare: Please wear sturdy, close-toed shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. We also recommend wearing pants and socks that come above the ankle. Be sure to check the weather report and dress accordingly and remember that it’s windier and cooler by the lake. If there’s a little drizzle, we may have a shorter cleanup, but we do not work in a rainstorm. There are no flush toilets available, but a porta-potty will be available on site. What to Bring: Please bring along a reusable water bottle and a 5 gallon pail if you have one. We also recommend that you bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat.
